A Gift

A few weeks back, I met someone who gave their laughter freely. The sound was not degrading or raucous; it was a bubbling brook of joy, an eruption of diamonds. My soul was lifted as I sat in it, delightfully puzzled. This kid laughed and laughed at something I found worthy of a chuckle.

We do not laugh enough, I think.

We guard our laughter for those special moments we deem worthy, and those jokes held up to our esteem. How would life be different if we let our heart find joy in the simple strangeness of this life?
