29, 2014 A Verdade Brilha
This week: I
think we walked a total of 59 miles! We ate a whole lot of pão francês! It
rained buckets, and our umbrellas were stolen! Almost all of our appointments
fell through! BUT Conference was INCREDIBLE. so many answers to so many
questions. (Probably the most incredible thing, is being able to understand
everything they say! I remember the first time I tried to watch conference in
portuguese. hahahahahhaha...) I also am happy to announce that All is going
well with the integration of sister Spencer. She is probably one of the
funniest, and just SWEETest bumpkins I have ever met. I just want to eat her
all up.
Quick Story:
We were walking down the street one night, and a man in crutches passed by...
after a few steps he turned around and backtracked. "YOU ARE
MORMONS!" he yelled. We confirmed his statement. His appearence was
that of a desperate man, who counted rain showers- as his weekly bath. He
looked at me raggedly and said. " I need help."
In my mind I
thought "oh-HO really?" I then mentally hit myself for thinking that
and asked him what it was that we could do for him
He
asked what we COULD do to help him.
After
explaining that we visit people to teach them how to live the gospel of Jesus
Christ he said he would love to have a visit...I grabbed my
planner and wrote down his information.... he looked at me.
HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
(I still cant believe this happened)
He said
"PARABÉNS por sua gravides!"

I looked at
him and replied. "why thank you!"

It is easy to see life as a competition.
Who is the most successful, the most beautiful, the most intelligent, the most capable, the most loved, the most spiritual, the most talented, the most popular, the most, the most, the most.... the list is endless.
It appears when we are bustling about comparing, desiring, and watching... We tend to forget to be grateful. As such, many a time we are not successful in becoming that which we could have become.
But, I am convinced life is much more than photos, and opinions.
Life is Incredible.
Life is an Adventure.
The most wonderful, epic and unforgettable sort of adventures.
And no adventure is truly adventurous without a treasure of some sort.
Therefore we must carefully contemplate and determine; What IS our destination? Who would we like to be when we get there? What treasure are we in search of?
It is quite hard to find a treasure that you don't know you are looking for.
An adventure is to be enjoyed, it is to be IMMERSED IN. Obstacles are to be overcome, Goals are to be reached, Strength and wisdom are to be developed, Answers are to be found.
In the midst of our mortal journey; May we all discover what treasure we are searching for. May we continue on the road to becoming our best selves (seja mental, espiritual ou física) and May we FIND JOY in this adventure that is... LIFE.

Anyway, I have broken some sort of record. Have you ever heard of anyone who had 17 companions in 14 months? Apparently I have a lot to learn from a lot of people. ;)
And thus, the news came yesterday. I am to give my posterity away to another mother, and I shall be integrating another american into BRAZIl. #again?!
It appears, the closer we get to the Father, the harder things get. It is an incredible and almost incomprehensible principle. That proves His love. He wants us to progress, He wants us to become like Him, And have the fulness of joy that HE has.... Thus He gives us opportunities to learn, grow, stretch, and be perfected. All of which, bring Us even closer to Him.
Growth is painful. So I am quite content. I know I am growing ;)
