An observation on millennials:
The world is at our fingertips because everyone in the world is connected by them. Fingers tap twice and swipe and... WOOF! you've got a new puppy! POOF! you have a fresh dinner! ZOOM! you've got a new boyfriend and a real creepy ride. We are a generation that wants instant gratification. If it takes more than 5 seconds to load... uhm that is just unacceptable. Our minds are addicted to needless information. No one can sit for more than an hour without instinctively reaching for their back pocket, and feeding their mind with more flickering images.
It's caused a condition known as FOMO: fear of missing out. It's more of a crisis, really. We mope around, waiting for what is just around the river bend. We don't commit because we aren't convinced that is the best option. We cease to see all that is around us and let all that is not around us absorb us. We are only attracted by attention suckers; the newest 4 minute video, the snazziest iphone, the better man that we prance into our lives next week. We throw so many images into our minds that we create our own ideas of what our life should be and we never fully live in the moment because we are constantly hoping for better ones ahead. And ya wonder why so many people are depressed and don't feel fulfilled haha.
Look around you.
How long has it been since you've really looked around you?
That, I believe, is the issue.
AND HERE IS A FABULOUS SONG SINCE MUSIC MONDAY THIS MONDAY DIDN'T HAPPEN. It is worthy of being folded up and stuck in your back pocket.
"May we be found among those who give our thanks to our Heavenly Father. If ingratitude be numbered among the serious sins, then gratitude takes its place among the noblest of virtues."
-Thomas S. Monson
