So I will just focus on one thing.
Promises.
“I have been asked what I mean by “word of honor.” I will tell you.
Place me behind prison walls—walls of stone ever so high, ever so thick, reaching ever so far into the ground—there is a possibility that in some way or another I might be able to escape;
but stand me on the floor and draw a chalk line around me and have me give my word of honor never to cross it.
Can I get out of that circle?
No, never! I’d die first.”
That is something My dad drilled into me like nothing else.
Honesty. Telling the truth.
He used to tell us this story. it was called,
"The Trust Tower."
He looked at all of his little ones in the eye and began to talk in his gentle tone.
"You see, everyone has a tower that begins with one Stone. Every time you keep a promise (you do what you say you will) a little stone is added to your tower. Over time a trust is developed and bridges are made between people. After a very long time, this trust tower becomes a huge, magnificent thing. It looks so strong, and it unites people.
But, when one person is dishonest. Even once. A stone is pulled from the bottom of their beautiful tower and the whole thing falls, crumbling to pieces.
All of us stood there, taking in this story. Realizing how devastating that would be. To work for years to create this wonderful thing, and then one wrong move and BOOM. its gone.
He told us that if we ever lied to him, he would not be able to trust us like he used to. And we would have to work even harder to build a new trust tower- stone by stone- day by day- truth by truth.
That story has stuck with me for my whole life. I value trust and honesty more than I can express.
And now. My concluding point. A wondrous thing really.
You see, God's Trust Tower is Infinite. HE DOESN'T LIE. If He did, he would cease to be God. Therefore He cannot.
This is a truth that I grasp onto.
Even when people change, and the world around seems to want to drown me.
When I am gasping for air, reaching for something steady, God is always there, always honest always reliable, and all-knowing.
Truly He is everything I have ever needed and could ever want to emulate. He has changed me and my life. I owe him all I have. Let Him do the same for you.
"Then shall ye call upon me and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart."Jeremiah 29:11-12
That is a promise.
That is a promise.
He is there, and He will listen.
| Also. Here I am bundled in a blanket Annie made for me She's a fantastic author and an even more amazing friend. |
"For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. " Romans 8:38-39
For He loves you.
