Well friends, I hope you don't mind, but this blog is taking a turn for the better. It is going to be more focused on the spiritual side of things. At least once a week I shall write what I believe, what I have learned, and discovered, rather than just things that are going on in life or inspire me.
Disclaimer. I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. If you want to know more, click here or ask me questions!
I believe what I say and I say what I believe. Please respect that- but I definitely don't mind hearing others opinions! I will be referring to Scripture as my main resource.
Alrighty, now that that is cleared up. :)
So HERE GOES. THE FIRST OF MANY POSTS.
Today I am going to talk about prayer.
In Alma 31, Alma gets to see the Zoramites worshiping God . Every man would walk one by one up to this huge stand and offer the same prayer to God. Thanking Him for being "a chosen people" and repeating ths same prayer over and over. After their turn was up, they would go home and forget about God until next Sunday and believe they were saved.
"Alma and his brethren and his sons had heard these prayers, they were astonished beyond all measure."
Alma knew it, and I know it. This is not what prayer is supposed to be like. No, not in the slightest.
Prayer is a wonderful gift. The opportunity we all have to personally talk to God, and receive answers, guidance and inspiration. I have learned so much about who I am, what my purpose is in this life, and about God by taking the time and earnestly talking to God.
So. Many people don't not know how to go about praying to this "Being" who they can't even see. I understand why so many are skeptical. But search for that bit of you that Wants to believe, all you need is a desire. That is all anyone can ask of you. Just WANT to know. and then you will be amazed at what can grow from that.
Wellp, I shall tell you some suggestions on how to go about Praying to God.
You must REALLY and TRULY want to talk to God. You cant treat this as something light- or as something you "Have to do" just to check off a list. But I can promise you, If you humbly and earnestly seek for answers and comfort, God will give you what you need. He wants to help you- He is your spiritual Father, you just need to open yourself to Him.
Find a place to be alone, its hard to focus with distractions around you. Get down on your knees. (This is a physical way of showing humility.) Make sure you are as humble as you can possibly be, and talk to Him. Address him as your Father. Thank him for everything, apologize for faults- mistakes you have made, ask for for forgiveness and be truly sorry, ask him questions you have, tell Him what you know, verbalize everything. Your worries, your wonders, your skepticism. Open yourself to Him.
He knows you better than you know You. I can attest to that.
Prayer will change your life if you let it.
Listen for His answers. They might come in sudden thoughts, or feelings, God often uses others to answer prayers.
Once you take the time to look for God, You will find Him in abundance.
Best of Luck, and all my love
