Sometimes Inspiration Comes in the Smallest of Packages.

Meet Tarak Mcclain:

6 years old

Lives in Austin, Texas

Born in Thailand

It is tradition on the 100th day of school, for students to bring 100 things to show or share with the class. Children can be seen hurrying in, clutching their collections of various buttons or candies. Excitement beaming of their innocent faces as they whisper and announce with pride, their own personal collection.

That is, most children.

 Tarak walked into his kindergarten class with a list in his hand. A list of 100 things he believes in. 

"1. I believe life is good."

I listened and I melted. 

What kind of child, so young, has this much passion?

"Clearly it is not a child raised on cartoons and candy."

With tears in my eyes and a freshly inspired heart, I wrote my own list.

100 things I believe

2. I believe eyes are a pathway to the soul
3. I believe a good home-made meal can cure a heavy heart
4. I believe advice should always be considered
5. I believe everyone should find a passion
6. I believe we should all take moments to be calm and think
7. I believe in forgiveness
8. I believe we should never loose a sense of adventure
9. I believe laughter is a God-provided medicine
10. I believe some things should be taken  lightly and others should be taken seriously
11. I believe God doesn't lie
12. I believe people are good
13. I believe in keeping promises
14. I believe everyone needs a reason to live
15. I believe in trying new things
16. I believe everything happens for a reason
17. I believe we should discover who we are
18. I believe we should live in the moment
19. I believe friends are easy to make and hard to keep 
20. I believe in choice
21. I believe similarities should be celebrated and differences should be celebrated
22. I believe we should always try to develop our talents and skills
23. I believe a lot of things we thing are important, are not
24. I believe humans are given everything they need to survive
25. I believe in keeping calm in chaos
26. I believe in making goals, and reaching them
27. I believe in lists
28. I believe people are infinitely deeper than we expect them to be
29. I believe we should avoid things that tempt us
30. I believe people should always be learning and improving
31. I believe in being presentable
32. I believe people should not embarrass each other
33. I believe people should do what they love to do
34. I believe everyone is weird in their own way and that is a good thing
35. I believe we should treat everyone and everything with respect
36. I believe everything works out in the end.

38. I believe in asking questions to find answers
39. I believe we should try and find a new perspective
40. I believe people can accomplish anything with God
41. I believe sarcasm is one of the best forms of humor
42. I believe people should eat well and keep their bodies strong
43. I believe we should smile as much as we possibly can
44. I believe fun is important
45. I believe sleep, love, and a good fruit smoothie can cure anything... for a few minutes
46. I believe in finding beauty in everything
47. I believe water is miraculous
48. I believe we should not take advantage of others
49. I believe "creating" draws us closer to God
50. I believe we have to allow ourselves to be happy
51. I believe people should not forget their heritage
52. I believe good holidays should be celebrated
53. I believe in preparation
54. I believe in taking responsibility for our actions
55. I believe Jesus Christ is THE perfect example
56. I believe people should demonstrate self-control
57. I believe in going to bed early and waking up early
58. I believe we should learn to trust each other
59. I believe people should do nothing that impairs judgement
60. I believe money is not bad, it just easily corrupts people
61. I believe elderly folk have a lot of good advice to give, especially when people are willing to listen
62. I believe in becoming our best selves

65. I believe families are meant to last
66. I believe we should inspire eachother

94. I believe we should never stop being full of wonder
95. I believe we should always have role models to look up too

97. I believe often times people don't realize what they have, until its gone
98. I believe in standing up for each other
99. I believe in being humble enough to let people help
100. I believe God wants us to be happy

But, seriously.
